30 Tyler Spear VIDEO INTERVIEW Loyola Blakefield 11 2011-12 Results Tyler kept getting better and better as the year progressed. XC started out rough and his placings were in the 40's to 60's, but he wound up with an 8th place finish in the MIAA's.  In track he got down to 9:47 in outdoor. Now as the leader of the team as a junior, Spear will be more than ready to challenge for the MIAA title.
29 Christopher Jones
North Point 12 2011-12 Results Chris was one of three North Point runners last season to break 10:00 in the 3200 and he would have been faster, but he ran a lot of races in indoor and outdoor track. He was very consistent in xc with a 17:05 to his credit at the state meet. North Point will have a high team ranking this season if the group continues to improve.
28 Robert Keim
North Point 12 2011-12 Results Another of the North Point trio under 10:00, Keim had a rough day at states last xc season, but was 7th at regionals and 3rd at SMAC's. As long as Keim and the two Jones boys can run as a pack, it will be hard for them to lose many meets.
27 Dan Beck
Linganore 11 2011-12 Results Beck had a strong XC season last year.  As the team's number three runner he was able to pop out a 17:13 at Hereford and had two teammates ahead of him. This year he will be counted on even more to provide a high place and also to bring along the younger runners. His outdoor season was so-so with a 4:35 1600 at regionals being his best race.
26 Kevin Payne VIDEO INTERVIEW Hereford 12 2011-12 Results Once xc is over, Payne is strictly a pole vaulter.  Occasionly running a race, he admits that he does few running workouts during indoor and outdoor. But during the summer he turns his focus to running with his teammates. A 17:27 time at the state meet shows his dedication to helping the team.
25 Nick Simpson
Albert Einstein 12 2011-12 Results A 3rd at Moco champs last season puts in a favorite role this season.  A 10th at states will be better this season. Much stronger at XC than track, Simpson maintains a low profile and could challenge for the win in 3A.
24 Kevin Dorsey VIDEO INTERVIEW Catoctin 11 2011-12 Results Kevin has not progressed as fast as his brother David, but he is not far behind. With a group of 3200's between 10:00 and 10:20 and 1600's in the 4:40 area, Kevin is in the battle at every race. Running so many races during the season probably does not help with peaking at the end of the season, but you can say they don't shy away from anyone.
23 James Shipley
Severna Park 12 2011-12 Results Shipley is another Severna Park runner under 10:00 in the 3200 last year with a 9:45 to his credit. Shipley had an off day at xc states last year, but if the core of the Severna Park pack attack can stay together at Hereford in November, it will be difficult for any other team to come out number one in 4A.
22 Brendan Johnson
Thomas Stone 12 2011-12 Results Johnson had a very good track season with a 9:38 3200 and a 4:22 1600 to his credit. Always ran smart races on the track. Had a lack of invitational xc meets last year which would have helped him in the championship season.  Ran 17:34 at Hereford which was only good for 24th place.
21 Sam Andrews VIDEO INTERVIEW Oakland Mills 12 2011-12 Results Sam has been a good runner since freshman year, but last year he decided he just needed to take a break during outdoor track.  Many times that break is what is needed to rededicate yourself to the sport. He ran during the summer, but here is hoping he finds that drive that made him a sub 10:00 3200 runner as a freshman.
