20 Nick  Fransham VIDEO INTERVIEW North Harford 10 2011-12 Results Nick came out of nowhere as a freshman to finish 16th with a 17:22 at states last year.  A quiet kid, Nick also went under 10:00 last year surprising even his coach.  Working with a summer training club this year, he is ready to make major improvements early this season.
19 Luke Daigneault   Smithsburg 12 2011-12 Results 2nd at states and winning his regional meet.  Daigneault topped off a good year with a win in the 3200 at outdoor states on a hot day. He will be the favorite to win 1A, but to move up in overall state rankings, he will need to run against tougher competition in invitationals.
18 Julian Rivera VIDEO INTERVIEW Hereford 12 2011-12 Results Julian won the Baltimore County championships last year over Ciattei, but went out fast at the state meet and faltered at the end of the race, finishing eighth. He broke 10:00 only once last year running a 9:49 at states needs to work on his speed this fall so a fast early pace will not kill him at the end.
17 Ben Freed   Thomas Johnson 11 2011-12 Results Ben had Hassam Omar to learn from last year and now this year he is the one to lead the team.  With a sub 17:00 time at the states for seventh last year. He improved quickly over last xc season and this year he is going to need to start out strong. With only a 10:04 for the 3200 in track last year, he will have to work on his speed this fall if he is going to want to significantly move up in the rankings.
16 Chris Heydrick VIDEO INTERVIEW River Hill 10 2011-12 Results Heydrick surprised many people last year with his rapid improvement in xc, but by his 62nd and 27th places at his Hereford races, still has to learn to run hills. In indoor track he got down to 4:23 in the 1600 and an early 1:58 in the 800 in outdoor.  He tired after that in his first full year of running. With a short break this summer he started putting on the miles getting ready for 2012.
15 Collin Crilly VIDEO INTERVIEW Good Counsel 11 2011-12 Results Crilly had a great outdoor season with a 2:01, 4:21. and 9:35 at the WCAC Championships.  He had some good races last year in xc with a third at Mercersburg and a fifth at the Stampede Classic.  We would like to see him at Bull Run or other meets in Maryland this fall.
14 Ryan Forsyth   Severna Park 11 2011-12 Results Another of the Severna Park quad this is going to make it tough on any other team in 4A to compete.  Tenth at states and a 9:40 best 3200 can give SP three runners in the top six at Hereford.
13 Timothy Virostek VIDEO INTERVIEW Wilde Lake 12 2011-12 Results For the past few years, Virostek had the Enerson brothers to train and race with, but this year he is on his own after Duncan and Henry graduated. He will have to push himself during practices and races. A sixth place finish at xc states last year and a 16:55 time makes him one of the favorites for this year. He had a fantastic outdoor states running 1:56, 4:22 and 9:38.
12 Alex Love VIDEO INTERVIEW Chesapeake-AA 12 2011-12 Results Love won the xc regionals last year, but then lost ground on the hills at states to finish fifth. Was under 10:00 only once last year in outdoor, but admittedly had some trouble in the extreme heat. If he goes out conservatively this year he could give the Severna Park boys a run for their money.
11 Weston Carvalho VIDEO INTERVIEW Winters Mill 12 2011-12 Results Weston had a great xc season along with teammate Zach Hopkins. A third at the state meet set him up for a good indoor season and he started out with a 9:37 3200 at the first meet.  Stepping on the line during the regionals kept him out of indoor states, but he came back with 9:36 in the outdoor state meet.  A summer of overmileage is setting up for a good xc season
