MarathonTalk, The Naked Runners and The Runaround Lead the World in Celebration of the Mile

Mile Maniacs:

From Monday, September 3 through Sunday, September 16, we invite you to help us to prove that the Mile is indeed America's distance. A first of its kind, we've accepted the Magic Mile challenge from the British, represented by MarathonTalk, and team "The Rest of the World, represented by The Naked Runners in Australia, to see who can log the most Mile runs during the challenge period. In the United States BBTM has partnered with The Runaround on ESPN radio as its 'voice'.

It's easy to participate and you can run your Mile anywhere you'd like. The main objectives of the Magic Mile competition are to see how fast you can run a Mile and to promote fun and fitness via the most iconic distance in sport. You may submit as many Miles as you would like, but your fastest Mile will be ranked.

Follow the instructions below and make sure to submit your Mile time at the link below during the competition period.

Step 1: Registration is now open at www.marathontalk.com/challenges/magic_mile.php
Step 2: Between September 3-16, run at least one flat out Mile.
Step 3: You can run your Mile solo or set up or find a Mile event in your hometown
Step 4: Submit results by 12:00 GMT Tuesday, September 18 (7:00 PM EST Monday, Sept. 17)

Magic Mile Global Team Challenge 2012 Fast Facts:
- The competition will be Team UK vs. Team Rest of the World vs. Team USA.
- This is a team challenge so participation will be weighted slightly more strongly than performance; getting involved will get you more points than running fast!
- Times will be converted to an age-graded percentage and an average calculated for each region.
- There will also be bonus percentage points added based on the number of entries.
- You can post as many Mile times as you like between September 3-16 and the fastest will count.
